Final Preparations for the Holidays
Final Preparations for the Holidays
<< BackYou’ve been mostly nice all year. Christmas Eve, however, is not the time to take chances with Santa. To avoid those lumps of coal, your house needs to be (at least) presentable and ready for the big man’s arrival. Here are a few things to check off the list before falling asleep the night before Christmas.
Clean the Chimney
You don’t want to be responsible for Santa’s nice red suit being covered in soot, do you? Whether you clean the chimney yourself or hire a professional, make sure it’s done before the big day. You’ll not only save the jolly old man some trouble on his dry-cleaning, but may avoid some unwanted mishaps as you enjoy a roaring blaze in the hearth throughout the winter.
Clear the Walkways
Toys strewn around the floor are acceptable on Christmas day, but not on Christmas Eve. Make sure your floors and walkways are clear of hazards in the main thoroughfares of the house, and the paths outside are freshly scraped from snow. You don’t want your mother-in-law to trip as she brings over that fruitcake you love, do you?
Bake the Cookies
Cookies and candy canes go a long way with Santa, who will have worked very hard all night spreading joy to millions. Milk should also be at the ready to wash it all down. Brownie points if the cookies are still warm as you head to bed!
Sleep on Fresh Sheets
What’s better than sleeping with warm, fresh sheets? Falling asleep and waking up on Christmas morning well rested is a pretty splendid feeling. Since Santa only visits your house when you’re sleeping, you better make sure you get a good night’s sleep. Plus, if you have children, the sardonic pleasure of a deliberate snooze while the kids pester you about stockings and presents is not to be missed.
Tip: Use WD-40 Specialist® Cleaner & Degreaser on especially troublesome baking trays once the cookies are done. Rinse with soap and water before sending them off to dry.
Bonus Tip: Need a last-minute stocking stuffer? We have you covered with the WD-40® Handyman Trio Pack. Available on Amazon.
