WD-40 for Golf Equipment Maintenance

WD-40 Specialist products are a golfer’s secret weapon for keeping equipment in prime condition. Here’s how the range of WD-40 Specialist products keep you covered in all things club maintenance.

Cleaning Clubs

Your clubs are valuable, but over time dirt, grass, and grime can accumulate on your clubs’ heads. This buildup affects not only your shot accuracy but also the distance you can drive the golf ball, ideally down the fairway. This is caused by debris interfering with the grooves on the clubface, which are essential for creating spin and controlling the ball's flight.

To tackle the build-up of contaminants on your golf club head (and by default improve your club’s performance and shot consistency), we recommend using WD-40 Specialist® Cleaner & Degreaser. This cleaner and degreaser has been formulated to break down stubborn contaminants on industrial equipment.  It can definitely handle the contaminants on your golf club head, making sure it’s a tee-utiful day. Simply spray the cleaner and degreaser onto the club head and let it sit. After this, simply wipe or rinse off the cleaner and degreaser and your club will look as good as new! A clean club ensures that you maintain a consistent connection with the ball. This is about the only time you’ll catch us bragging about delivering below-par performance (pun intended).

After ensuring your club head is clean, and almost certainly ensuring a hole-in-one, the focus needs to shift to the shaft of your golf club.

Cleaning Golf Balls

Just like the club heads, golf balls are designed for performance in mind.  Each groove/ indention is meant to help with accuracy, range, and ball placement.  If your ball is contaminated with dirt and grime, this will throw off the accuracy and range of your shot.  To ensure you get the most out of your golf balls, use WD-40 Specialist Degreaser & Cleaner EZ Pods.  Simply take a pod, drop it into a 32oz bottle of water, then let the formula work to remove dirt and grime.  You can use a spray bottle for light dirt or add the pods to a bowl of water and soak the golf balls for tougher, stuck on dirt.  Our formula quickly breaks down dirt and grime to keep you on your game.

Protecting Club Shafts

Golf clubs’ shafts, whether they are made from steel or graphite, experience wear and tear over time. Steel shafts are particularly prone to rust due to their inherent iron composition. This affinity to rust is exacerbated if the clubs are exposed to moisture.

To break away rust from your golf club shaft, WD-40 Specialist Penetrant, is your go-to product. The penetrant breaks down the bonds of rust and allows you to easily remove it through some light agitation. Simply spray on the penetrant and wait a few minutes for it to break down any present rust. After allowing the penetrant to do its job, use a brush to remove the rust residue from the club.

Golf Cart Maintenance

Golfing is great exercise.  You use multiple muscles when swinging your clubs and after 18 holes it can definitely be tiresome.  The last thing you would want is to walk and carry your clubs to each hole.  This is why most people use golf carts.  Like most moving equipment, golf carts can get pretty dirty.  Use WD-40 Specialist® Cleaner & Degreaser to clean any dirt and grime from the wheels. Use WD-40 Specialist Silicone to keep all plastic and moving parts working as they should.

The range of WD-40 Specialist products offer practical solutions to any challenge you may encounter in your facility or on the golf course. Incorporating WD-40 Specialist products into your golfing activities will have you covered from the first to the last hole. There’s no ifs, ands, or putts about it – WD-40 reigns supreme!
